Did you know that Carers SA held a Camp for Young Carers between 10 - 16 years of age, from Monday July 13th until Thursday 15th at Mylor in the Adelaide Hills!

This camp provided an opportunity for Young Carers to meet up, have fun and take a break from caring. This camp also linked with the July Breakthru event which was an adventure day at Woodhouse on 12th July. Carers SA was excited to be able to offer this camp to Young Carers who had a great time tackling the commando course, high ropes and flying fox. Young Carers attended from as far away as Leigh Creek and Pt Lincoln. This camp was made possible due to funding received from the HACC Carer Retreats Program.

Carers SA Young Carer Adventure Retreat was such a success that a further camp has been made possible due to funding received from the Carer Retreats Program to again be held at the Mylor Baptist Community Services Camping and Retreat Centre, during the April school holidays.

2nd National Young Carers Summit - 'Supporting Young Carers'

After the success of the First National Summit in August 2004, it was time for everyone to get together again to evaluate the objectives and the outcomes from the Summit and maintain the focus for improving the future outcomes for Young Carers.

Those who attended the 2004 National Summit advised that they found it to be both a Powerful and Inspiring experience. It provided a forum for Young Carers to have a voice and be heard. A report is available from Carers SA.

We at Carers SA looked forward to the 2nd National Summit held this year on the Gold Coast from August 30th to September 1st. Seven Young Carers from South Australia attended.
